The songs that take you straight back
Some songs carry a memory with them. Think about the track that instantly brings back a person, place or moment for you.
You can forget the name of a road or the year of a holiday, then hear the opening of a song and remember the whole scene. Music has a way of becoming attached to ordinary moments that later feel important.
It might be the tune that was always playing on the way to school, something a friend introduced you to or the first song you were brave enough to dance to. Sometimes the memory is much smaller: a kitchen radio, a late journey home or someone singing the wrong words.
Those associations make a music conversation interesting. Ask a few people for a song that means something to them and you are likely to hear a story along with every title.
Try making a short playlist around one time or place. Choose the songs because of the memories they bring back, then write a sentence beside each one explaining why it belongs. Share it with someone who was there, or with someone who has never heard those stories.
Here is a question for the Volcano Radio community: which song takes you straight back, and where does it take you?
Keep the answer as simple or as detailed as you like. A song title and artist are a good beginning. The story behind them is what makes the choice yours.
