Make a playlist that moves with your day

Choose a beginning, a change of pace and a final track for a more personal listening session.

A good playlist does not have to be long. Sometimes a handful of songs, placed in an order that feels right, can turn an ordinary part of the day into a little listening journey.

Choose the moment first

Think about when you will listen. A relaxed evening, a burst of housework and the journey home can all suggest different beginnings. Choose an opening track that suits that moment rather than trying to include every favourite song at once.

Give yourself a simple limit, such as six tracks. A small selection makes each choice feel deliberate and gives you a playlist you can enjoy from beginning to end.

Find a change of pace

Listen to the end of one song and the start of the next. Do they flow comfortably together, or does the change feel surprising in a good way? You can group similar moods, build gradually towards something more energetic or place a quiet track where it gives the listener room to breathe.

There is no single correct order. Try moving one song and notice how the whole sequence feels different. A playlist can tell a story without a spoken word.

Save something for the ending

Choose a last track that leaves you where you want to be. It might be warm, hopeful, playful or simply a song you are always happy to hear again. The ending is part of the experience, rather than the place where the list happens to run out.

For a shared playlist, invite each person to suggest one track and explain why it belongs. You may discover an artist you would never have searched for yourself.

Here is a question for the Volcano Radio Live community: what would you choose as the opening and closing songs of your day? Share the titles and artists, and the mood you would put between them.
